Poppin' In

As you can probably see, I've been away for a bit!  I've been enjoying a nice, long, relaxing, well-needed break!  I hope everyone had a FANTASTIC Christmas and Hanukkah!  I'm looking forward to a very Happy New Year and hope the same for you!  Of course with this break I have been itchin' to get back to work again.  Is that crazy?  I miss taking pictures even though it was nice to put away the camera for a couple weeks.  That being said, I'll be coming back on here soon with a new 2009 schedule!  So if you're looking to book or have already e-mailed me now is the time to check back.  Feel free to send an e-mail.  I'll also be planning trips to Fargo, Bismarck, Minneapolis and possibly Phoenix in the coming months, so please check back if you're interested in those sessions as well!

Kelly and Kayla - 12.13.08

It's fitting that so close to Christmas I would be able to post a very Christmas-y wedding!  Kelly and Kayla had fresh fallen snow and the low temperatures to match.  I'm impressed the whole wedding party ventured outside for this first shot!  It was also windy so we did it QUICK! Luckily the forecasted storm held off.  Still, it was a beautiful winter wedding and everyone had a great time.  I loved all the accents of pine, berries and poinsettias... it all went together so well and everyone looked amazing!

Lauren, Ryan, and Grant

These three cuties were all ready for Christmas when I arrived.  I told them if they were good that I would tell Santa about their photo session and they were angels after that!  They showed me the pretty tree and around the house.  Lauren's room was one of my favorites with the bright natural light and pretty antique furniture.  And you all know how much I love wood floors and this home had GORGEOUS floors which I used to my advantage, the colors were great!  Everyone had such great smiles they made it easy for me!

Olivia and Evy

It's definitely fitting to have a snowy picture for the first shot!  Olivia had fun throwing the snow up in the air while her little sister Evy watched.  And I know that this family is very grateful and happy Evy is able to do just that!  Born with multiple heart defects, baby Evy has already been through heart surgery and all the ups and downs that come with it.  Luckily she is doing very well now, and was all smiles for her first professional photo shoot!  We had a great time and of course I spotted the red barn immediately!

Presley, Paige, and Marshall

This will be the third year in a row I've photographed these cuties, and it's so much fun!  They're very photogenic and I even managed to get Marshall holding one of his pictures we took at our first session together when he was just a baby!  He's really grown up since last time, as well as his big sisters.  They had lots of fun colors and we even managed to run outside for a few shots in the freezing cold.  It's definitely getting harder to be outdoors.  Presley was more than happy to show off her hockey stick for me though!

Taylor and Hayley

What adorable little girls!  I had a great time photographing these two at their farm last week.  They were shy at first but eventually warmed up to me after playing peek-a-boo from behind my big camera--it really works well for that game!  Then we braved the cold outside for as long as we could.  It was sunny but the wind was blowing so it wasn't very fun for the girls, OR my bare numb fingers!  Still, I worked quickly and we got some shots of the family next to their cattle and also Taylor sitting on top of dad's old truck!

Jeremy and Jami - 11.28.08

This was a FUN wedding for me because Jeremy and Jami are good friends of ours.  My husband was also an usher.  So of course I tried to capture these two and their personalities because I know them well.  They are two peas in a pod and have such a fun story of how they met; basically she was playing a touch screen game and he came up and asked her if she really knew what she was doing (something like that!) and the rest is history.  We even went back to that same bar and they took a picture by the game.   It was definitely a great time and I was honored to be capturing their special day for them!

Vayle, Hogan, and Ava

It was time for Vayle's nine month photo session, and this time her brother and sister AND Mom and Dad joined in.  Vayle had plenty of fun outfits and hats to wear, and she posed like a little model in all her closeups!  I love this first one, she looks so serious!  We also had a gorgeous sunset for the family shots.  It was the perfect time of day for the beautiful golden light!

Noel, Aaron, and Ryan

These three boys were a lot of fun and FULL of personality!  Even this first shot you can see it clearly--I love capturing expressions!  We took the pictures at Grandma and Grandpa's house and it was nice enough to go outside in the backyard with Mom and Dad to take some shots.   Again, it definitely looks more like fall than winter.  Just a tiny bit of snow on the ground, which is crazy for this time of year!  I'm not complaining though, I LOVE shooting outdoors and hope I can continue to do it all winter long!

Brett and Rachel - 11.22.08

It's hard to believe there wasn't any snow on Brett and Rachel's wedding day since it was so late in November, but it was more like fall!  (Check out their engagement shots from October here!)  They definitely lucked out and we were able to go outside for a few shots even though it was still pretty cold!  Quite a difference versus my previous wedding in Arizona, but of course I always enjoy hometown weddings too.  I knew a lot of people at the wedding and it was fun to catch up with everyone!

Holiday Rush Reminders

Now that December's here the official holiday rush has begun!  I just wanted to remind anyone who's inquired about Christmas cards that the deadline for design approval and ordering is DECEMBER 15th.  If you would like to order additional coffee table books and want them for gifts the deadline to place your order is DECEMBER 8th.  If you've been working on choosing your photos for the books please get those in to me as soon as possible.  After December 8th the books cannot be guaranteed to arrive in time for Christmas.

Also, I've had LOTS of inquiries about setting up appointments for next year already.  I have decided to try a different approach to booking and will hopefully be implementing that in January.  Keep checking back and I'll be announcing on here when I've got a schedule up and running.  Until then I won't be booking anything officially just yet.  Hang in there...the craziness is about to begin!
