Breanna and Eric's Engagement Session

Breanna and Eric bundled up for their winter engagement session--and the results were worth it!  We had beautiful snow and fantastic skies, even though we were freezing as we made our way around town.  We ended up out at my parents farm for some fun barn shots, and at the end, we headed inside for some well deserved warm photos in front of the fireplace with some hot chocolate!  I had a hard time narrowing these down for the post, I loved them ALL!

Jake, One Year!

Another baby photography milestone!  It's so much fun taking pictures of babies throughout their first year.  I got to see Jake at three months and seven months, and now--one whole year!  This time, we met at grandma and grandpa's house where there were doggies and sledding and blue skies on a crisp winter day.  Luckily there was no wind and we were able to play outside for quite awhile.  Jake may be growing up fast, but one thing hasn't changed--his beautiful blue eyes!

Sydney

Little Sydney just celebrated her first birthday and was ready for her session with the cutest birthday outfit, including a pink pettiskirt!  We had fun, and I loved her big sparkling eyes.  It even warmed up enough for us to be able to go outside for a little bit.  Here are some of my picks--check 'em out!

Isaac, Lilah, and Asher

Big brother Isaac and big sister Lilah were so proud of new baby Asher--I don't think I've ever had kids this young pose so well with a little one!  It helped that we had him sleeping peacefully in a Radio Flyer wagon, but that's what newborns do best--sleep ! He was a very good subject, along with his siblings, and I got all sorts of great shots and expressions.   Even Mom and Dad got in for some cozy family shots.  Here are my favorites!

What's in a Name?

I've been wanting to make a fun post about this for a long time, and now that I'm finally going through all my 2007 pictures, I have an excuse!

Many people ask me if I bring with some sort of alphabet to homes, because I get so many cute kid's rooms with their names on the wall.  And the answer is nope--they're already there!  Names are such a cute and personal touch, plus they make for great pictures!

Here are just a few I dug out from my archived folders.  I took so many pictures this year, it boggles my mind.  I met hundreds of families and I remember each and every one of them and enjoy going back again and again to capture with my lens these little ones growing up.  Thank you to everyone for making 2007 such an amazing year.  I am truly looking forward to 2008!

Chris and Jenni - 1.11.08

It's always neat when I am able to shoot weddings for people I've met along the way in life--Jenni and I went to a Garth Brooks concert with some mutual friends about ten years ago and hadn't seen each other since!  I ran into her at another wedding I was taking pictures at last year, and that's when she told me she was engaged!  What a small world!  Jenni and Chris had a beautiful sparkly-snowy day for their wedding, so of course we stole a few moments outside before the sun went down to get some amazing shots!  I was also able to get some fun images at the dance with some of my new lighting techniques.  Here are some of my favorites...

HOME!

Finally, after a WEEK on the road, traveling through EIGHT states--I'm HOME!

It was definitely tricky with intermittent e-mail access and carrying around my iMac but I did manage to get a little work done.  My husband was happy to load his combines (and subsequently dropped them off in Kansas so they are ready when harvest begins) and, as a bonus,  I got to see how the big machines were made at the John Deere Harvester Works factory in East Moline, Illinois.

But, yes--now I'm home!  If you've been patiently waiting to hear from me on e-mails, sessions, sneak peeks, etc... it will be much faster now!  I even have some fun news--plans are in the works to FINALLY UPDATE MY WEBSITE and galleries will be filled with all NEW pictures from my favorite sessions of 2007!  It's been too long and I'm sure many of you are ready for some fresh portfolio work.  So stay tuned and I'll be back with more updates!

For fun, here's the view I had most of the trip... riding shotgun in the big Volvo semi!

Elise, Two!

I know I say it a lot, but one of the neatest things about being a photographer is watching kids grow up!  Usually I only see little ones a couple times a year--and when they're that little, they change FAST!  Sometimes I hardly recognize kids from when we last saw each other.  I first met Elise when she was only six months old, and then again at nine months.   Now, she's a busy two-year-old and full of personality!  We also did some family shots with Grandma, Grandpa, and Auntie (and of course Mom and Dad)--check 'em out!

Lukas

We had a very "chill" senior session with Lukas!  Set up partly in the local ice arena and also outdoors in the snow, we were definitely braving the cold!  However, being Minnesotans, it was nothing we couldn't handle.  We got some neat shots with his hockey gear in the arena, and there was a beautiful frost on the trees for some great winter backgrounds!  Here are some of my picks!

On The Road!

I just wanted to drop a quick note that I'm currently on a little impromptu road trip with my husband and his family as we pick up some new John Deere combines this week in East Moline, Illinois!  We'll then head on into Kansas before returning home.  I'm not sure our exact route as I am just along for the ride!

Of course I brought my "traveling office" so I'll have access to e-mail in the mornings and evenings, and may possibly get a blog or two up while we're here and I'm working on a few projects while we drive.  If you are still waiting on an e-mail, I'm hopefully going to be getting to all of them in the next day or so.  See you all when I get back!
