I was so glad the rain held off so we could play outside for Ty and Nick's photo session with Mom and Dad! They had a big backyard to run around in, a kid-sized motorcycle, and of course lots of that tall grass that I love! Eventually it got chilly again so we headed inside, where the boys introduced me to their kittens and then started taking pictures of ME with Mom's camera! It was funny to be the one photographed, but it certainly made them smile!
One quick 'bonus' picture. This is the momma kitty, cleverly named "Rooster"--she posed so nicely for this shot I figured I'd include this one, too!
Here's another fun family of returning clients! You may remember them from last November. These kids are so, so, so adorable and I love their curly hair and gorgeous complexions. Paige and Marshall were a little on the shy side, but Presley (the oldest) was definitely ready to pose! I loved Marshall's somber expression and puppy-dog eyes! We started in their livingroom, and then headed over to their Aunt and Uncle's house where we ventured outside for only a few minutes--it was cold/drizzly and the kids didn't like it too much! Of course the overcast day made the lighting incredible, so check out their great shots!
It's hard to believe this was the baby I fit into a little bowl when he was just a few weeks old. The last time I saw him was back in May, when he was three months. Look at him now! He can sit by himself and he crawls so fast it's hard to keep him in one place for very long!
We brought the pumpkins in from outside, because unfortunately it was raining like crazy this day and we weren't able to go outdoors. Luckily Kale was happy to be playing in his room, and there was lots of light coming through the windows--still a great session!
We had a blast in the backyard for this big family photo session! It was the perfect temperature with NO wind, and their bushes were bright with fall colors, so it definitely made for some stunning backgrounds! The kids had fun and it was great to do lots of different poses... mom with each kid, dad with each kid, the girls, the boys... even the dog!
Check 'em out!
I think fields of weeds and prickly things are gorgeous. Don't believe me? Check out some of the shots below with Leo and Sam! The only downside was that the prickly things got stuck in their sweaters, on our pants, on my bag--everywhere! But, still... I love the way the texture and the colors look in the shots in our found "weed field"!
These two were so fun and total boys. They were dressed up nicely, but within minutes they had both fallen at some point and had mud everywhere! It didn't help that I had them stomping through the tall grasses down by the river where it was extra muddy, but they were having a blast, and luckily mom didn't mind. I love those kinds of parents! :) We also went over to the playground, which was a little bit less messy. Here's some favorites...
I also wanted to just let everyone know I'm running a little behind on my blog posts due to the number of sessions I've been doing (sometimes three in one day!) I also just got back from my FARGO-MOORHEAD sessions, and that means I've got a whole new bunch in the waiting line, too! So if you haven't seen your blog post, it's coming, I promise! There will be a few days where I hope to post more than one blog entry, so keep checking back!
I had fun at another Twin Cities session with Jade and her mom. Even cousin Ella came to join in! Jade and Ella absolutely adore each other and love to give hugs. It wasn't very hard to get them to pose together! Jade was happy to wear her princess dress (also a Halloween costume) for part of the session, and she could've twirled around in the yard for hours if it hadn't been so chilly out! So we quickly replaced that with a warmer coat, and she was back to playing in no time. What fun!
I had the pleasure of photographing the family of photographer Mandy Birdwell while I was in the Minneapolis area, and I had SO much fun! It was so cool to take pictures for another photographer--I was definitely honored. She and I totally clicked! Her children, Jake and Jayden were absolutely adorable, and a photographer's dream! They seemed to be naturals in front of the camera. Even when Jake had some tears, he was still as cute as can be.
I'll bet Mandy was happy to be IN some pictures for once! I know how it is...when you're behind the camera, you're rarely in FRONT of it. :) Here are some of my many, MANY favorites!
Another Twin Cities Session! I last saw Gabe back in July when his family was visiting my hometown, and I had so much fun! He is such a little character. This time we had a fall session in a beautiful leafy park just a few minutes away from his house. I'm so glad the rain decided to stay away, because it was the perfect location for a little boy to go running around and exploring. And running he did--we had to chase after him to keep up! He could have ran all day, I think.
This first snap was taken right before we bundled him up in his sweater for the outdoor shots. I couldn't resist posting it here--I love his shirt!!

Edited to add: Okay, so I had a couple inquiries from Gabe's Mom and Auntie to post a picture of the "Gnome"... While we were walking through the woods on this particular trail, Mom suddenly started laughing and said, "Look, over there, in the tree! It's a GNOME!" Sure enough, we peeked closer, and hidden in his little spot in the tree was a real gnome. Just sitting there, kind of meditating. We really got a kick out of it, and of course I snapped his picture before he saw us went running back into the woods. ;)
It's time to start posting from my Twin Cities Sessions! Again, I wanted to say what a wonderful time I had meeting all the great families involved last week, and I can't wait to go back!
My first stop of the trip was to visit Ally and Belle (along with Mom and Dad) at their home. It was a tiny bit rainy, so we ventured out with coats and umbrellas just in case! I had a ton of fun with these little girls, as they have such great imaginations. I could have stayed all day! The best part was when we came in from the cold, Mom made us all some hot apple cider--complete with cinnamon sticks! It was delicious, and perfect for a cool fall day.
This first one is a favorite of mine, because even their dog is smiling!
